PELICAN BLOOD

Germany/Bulgaria, 2019, 121 min.

Wiebke lives with her adoptive daughter Nicolina on an idyllic horse farm. After years of waiting, she now has the chance to adopt another girl, Raya. The first weeks are harmonious and the siblings get along great. But soon Wiebke realises that Raya is becoming increasingly aggressive, endangering herself and everyone around her. The mother will be forced to make extreme decisions to protect her cubs.

Katrin Gebbe attended the Hamburg Media School where she directed award-winning short films, as well as the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, USA. Her debut feature Nothing Bad Can Happen (Tore Tanzt, 2013) premiered in Un Certain Regard at Cannes. The film won the German Film Critics’ Award, the Bavarian Film Award, and the New Auteurs Critics’ Award at AFI Fest.
