THE SHORT STRAW

Bulgaria, 2020, 86 min.

The chief of a provincial Militia station assigns one of his subordinates to night duty in order to “visit” his young wife. Two sergeants of the chief’s staff are aware of their boss’s sexual escapades and do whatever it takes to cover him. It all starts almost innocently, but the spiral of lies leads to serious crimes. Everyone knows everything; no one has a winning move.

 

Dimitar Petkov is a director/writer. He studied Film and TV Directing at NATFA, Sofia (1982). He has worked as a film director at Boyana Film Studios (1982–1991). Directed many documentaries. In 1991, he founded his own Parallax production company. His feature film Silence won Golden Rose Award in 1991 and many international prizes.
